One of the things I love about listening to these comedy records is the crackling sound. The combination of the occasional pop from the vinyl combined with the laughter from the audience on the live albums is such a treat. It makes me wish I was there at the Village Gate when Flip originally recorded this over forty years ago. There is something so special about listening to a comedy record in addition to just enjoying Flip’s funny material. If you have never done so, I wholeheartedly encourage you to buy a record player, sit back, put the needle to the grooves and dive in. I think you’ll love it.

Believe it or not, I’ve not yet heard all of these recordings. In a way, I’m actually kind of glad about that. It means I can discover some of this work for the first time…which is pretty exciting to me. I feel inclined to even go find an old eight-track player just so I can listen to this.
